EastEnders star Perry Fenwick has split from his actress wife Angela Lonsdale. Perry, who plays hapless loser Billy Mitchell in the soap, and former Coronation Street star Angela, are said to be 'devastated' at the break-up.
Last night a spokesman for the couple said: 'Perry Fenwick and Angela Lonsdale have sadly separated after five years of marriage. They will not be making any further comment.' A friend close to the couple told the Mirror: 'They just ran out of love. They had a series of heart-to-hearts and decided to call it a day. No one else is involved.' Perry, 48, and Angela, 39, married in February 2005 after he proposed to her by writing in pebbles on a beach. They were considered to have one of the strongest marriages in showbusiness.
The news of their split has reportedly come as a shock to the EastEnders cast, who were told the news yesterday. A source said: 'No one knew there were any problems at all as Perry is always talking about Angela in glowing terms. No one saw this coming.'

Angela is best known for her Coronation Street role as police officer Emma Taylor, who married Curly Watts. In 2003 she left the long-running soap to become a regular on ITV police drama The Bill. Londoner Perry first appeared as Billy Mitchell in EastEnders in 1998 but didn't become a regular until 1999. His character has been at the centre of some dramatic storylines.
Described as a 'runt of a man who's a catalyst for trouble', Billy has had two failed marriages and lost many jobs but has managed to remain one of the soap's most popular characters.
