Worth knowing that the recent title "Back to the Future", which got a lot of favourable reviews, is now available free!

It's only a couple of months since this Part 1 was released. I don't expect the other parts are going to go this way. That would be an interesting trend for the games industry...

TrackMania Nations Forever

A fun racing game. Not up to the standards of GT or anything like that but still pretty good for a free download.

Trackmania 2 has to be paid for but the first edition is a free download.

Tribes Ascend is a "freemium model", fast-paced, free-to-play FPS.

A great shooter & a worthy successor to the old Tribes games (which I played relentlessly donkey's years ago). Not as big in scale as my favorite, Tribes II, but better than the others in the series.

It's still in Beta, but plays excellently and they keep opening-up new maps etc. Goes final in April (but will still be free to play).

You get immediate access to 3 character types, which all play differently. You can unlock other characters & weapons by building experience or by paying, but it's a "pay to accelerate progress" model, not "pay to win", and the characters and weapons you get more quickly by paying cash are different to, not better than, the free ones.

If you "like" on Facebook, you get 250 free gold, which is enough to unlock another character or upgrade existing ones.
