|
I've always seen chefs on the tv talking about using challots, but I've never tried using them before today... and they're great. A mini onion-bomb that has so much flavour it's like semtex for the tastebuds.
I'm sure this isn't news to many of you, but it was a revelation to me!

yeah shallots are nice i like all the oniony family, get through loads of onions, spring onions and leeks
a little tip faceless, to help get the skin off leave them in hot water for a bit, then they peel of easy ![Smile](images/smiles/SMILEGA.GIF) |

I don't care for them personally, buy my dad likes the greens cut up and mixed in cottage cheese -- -whatever. We call them green onions here. |

No, I meant green onions... that's what he likes to do with them. You'd be hard pressed to get scallions here.... most people refer to them as green onions-- substitute them for the same thing. In any case, I don't particularly care for any of them.... only really if it's mixed in with something. |

they used to be called cyboes here - though sadly most shops have chosen to call them spring onions now. Cyboes is a great word. |
