embedded web pages

there is a feature on this site to allow web pages to be embedded in a post - the problem is that this should only be used sparingly. Many pages on other sites are full of stuff that slows things down and when there is more than one displaying this can send many slower computers into a crawl and also crash browsers.

Please check these things before posting an embedded page.

1. Does it make the website 'popout' - check this by previewing every post that has an embed. If it jumps out of this site completely, click back and remove the embed.

2. Make sure that any page that you're embedding has a background that will work. Many sites such as the Independent, Herald etc don't embed properly because the text is black on this blue background, which is no use.

3. Don't put more than two embeds in an entire thread page. It slows everything down and if it's that important, then just cut and paste the relevant content (giving credit for the source of course).

Above is a good thing. I have sometimes found the "popout" so bad that it was almost impossible to re-edit the page after the posting since it redirects so fast to the new page
