I'm not sure if this video was posted here before so here it is again. With the Taliban surge starting again, and if this video is any indication of what goes on at ground level, I think you get a very good picture of how the Taliban is able to continue operating.

Quite an eye openner, However I don't know if I'd trust those hand made guns not to blow up in your face and a shooting range with a mountain as a target!
