my nick, "Brown Sauce" comes from a meeting from villa and blues supporters and St Pauli supporters on a trip to Hamburg.

I am not one of the original members, but have supported Villa since the glory days of the third division in the seventies and I have supported St Pauli ever since I saw them and particularly their fan base some years ago, long before this meeting.

So I don't think that the Brown Sauce is unfitting, but more likely to be of the HP variety being a Brummie.

It along with Branston pickle and the English language are a few of the very few things I miss of the UK. Living now about 1 and a half hours away from the St Pauli ground.

I keep myself well stocked up with pickle and you can too https://www.ukgoods.com/cross-blackwell- ... -p-87.html

You can also keep your brown sauce stocked up!

That is an interesting story too on how you got your nickname! Thanks for sharing.

I hate to appear stupid, but is "brown sauce" like steak sauce? I always thought it was like gravy. We don't call anything brown sauce here.

Just seem appropriate to ask while we were on the topic :)

It's the consistency of ketchup or BBQ sauce, except brown and vinegary!

Ah, sounds like it's what we call steak sauce here. We've one by H&P I think and it has the Queens symbol ("By approval....etc") on it, so I think that must be it.

It really is like steak sauce eefan. The A1 steak sauce tastes a lot like "Daddies" but it's a bit sweeter.

"A1" !!! That's the name of it! I couldn't think of that for the life of me! Yes, it is the same thing then. Sorted!
