Here are some links to additional coverage of this story.
One detail present in the BBC article that is glossed over by AP is that "[h]e is shackled to his bed by both legs and one arm." By my math, this leaves just one arm free, painting a very different picture than merely stating, "he has been shackled to his bed, said lawyers and his wife Randa." |

| So it seems that Mr Adnan has now been given a release date (in April) and has come off the hunger strike. That's good to hear. I heard Mark Regev (spit) on a CNN clip the other day spewing forth about how the guy has the temerity to speak out for the Palestinian cause and that that, by implication, was justification for his unjust imprisonment - but you wouldn't expect anything else from such a soulless bastard as him. |

I read that news as well. However, it's still being met with skepticism from his family (sister?) because he told them not to believe it unless he announced it himself. It was given a segment on today's Democracy Now.
Personally, I thought it was odd that he would agree to stop his hunger strike at the end of the current (so-called) Administrative Detention order with the caveat if no more evidence comes to light.
Time will tell... |

One of the guests on today's Democracy Now was Danny Morrison, who is secretary of the Bobby Sands Trust. I'm not very familiar with his case. The connection is that he went on hunger strike while held as a political prisoner and died in 1981 after 66 days, which is the current day for Khadr.
Bobby Sands story was was dramatized in 2008. (imdb link)
