Weird canned foods from around the world

Thousands of years of human civilisation have brought us to the cheeseburger in a can. It looks pretty good, but we suspect the real thing doesn't look anywhere near as appetising...

Here's another one where the picture on the outside of the can doesn't prepare you for the horrors that wait inside

does anyone know what 'buffalo au jus' means? It can't be buffalo juice like I'm thinking, can it?

This is probably Faceless staple diet
Classic Scottish haggis has several variations, but a common cooking method involves stuffing oatmeal, onions, seasonings and a mixture of minced organ meats (think heart, liver, lungs) into the stomach of a sheep. That succulent sausage concoction is then simmered in water for several hours to produce the traditional treat. Pick up a couple of cans for a rainy day, and don't forget the neeps and tatties!

I think the buffalo au jus is just that...buffalo meat with juice. They eat buffalo out west. It is on alot of menus in Denver, but I haven't tried it yet. Next trip...

It's all protein! We are so fussy about which kind of protein we will & will not eat in "the west". It doesn't really make a lot of sense when you think about it. We'll eat lobster, crabs, shrimp etc, just 'cos they come from the sea, but if they crawled onto land and became an insect we are disgusted at the thought. You are still eating it's guts, its poo and its reproductive organs when you tuck into your prawn cocktail. Why not go the whole-hog, and eat the whole hog?
BTW - that canned chicken looked nasty! :p

there's a digestive tract that runs through a raw prawn - you take that out before cooking.
Did you go to the wrong barby one night? haha

I wouldn't eat anything's digestive tract, quite frankly!

Yep. Every shrimp I have ever made I devein. If I have it in a restaurant and see it, I send it back. The reproductive organs are in the same place as well.
