Hi All,
On the internet I go by the moniker - Manic49er
I'm a bit of a mutt - I'm American but my roots are Irish, English, French and I was born in Germany (a USAF service brat ;+)
I love offbeat humor and am nostalgic for stuff from the past nowadays which drives the wifeypoo crazy.
No kids but I raised my granddaughter for 18 years til she flew out of the nest with burning tail feathers ;+))
Was laid off 4+ years ago after working for the same company for 30 years! Not because they were having financial problems (as they were making a 22% profit at the time) but because they wanted to meet the 27% profit goal they had promised Mitt Romney's Bain Group which had invested in us 5 years previous and immediately started annual/biannual layoffs immediately! Why I didn't vote for him in the last election as I have personal experience with his robber baron mentality. But finally got a job after 4 years of searching about 3 months ago. Finally got thru the probationary period so I think I'm now a permanent employee!! I'm now a Fire Assay Technician as I could not find a job as the Electronic Technician I am as 'I am Overqualified' (translated - they didn't wnt to pay for my degree and 20 years of experience as one!!). I was also told by a Temporary Job agency that I most likely would have to change my career as 80% of people my age will NEVER be hired in the type of career been trained in and they've done for most of their lives as companies are no longer willing to pay for experience. They want a cheap fresh out of college newbie who can't do the job even minimally efficiently for a year and takes 5 years to get proficient within a company's structure/technology!. Enough of my ranting, at least I've now got a fulltime job (unfortunately at 40% of what I used to make :+((
See ya round,
Manic49er
