thought i should get my second post in, i'm lee, living in taiwan at the moment. what got me to finally post was after a few years (i think) of visiting couch i finally had an in depth look at almost all of the forums and to my surprise most posters seemed reasonable.
after posting on you tube vids and being banned also being called everything from a chink to a muslim terrorist and the gratuitous faggot, just because i didn't agree with the racist views and maniacal solutions they offered. so it was a bit of a surprise to read posters that wanted to kill everything in sight. thx

btw, couch good work

hi Lee, good to see that you've taken a look about. I can be a right unreasonable bastard at times (haha), but you'll not get banned here for being against racism or the usual crap that boneheads are into.

cheers

Welcome, Lee. Face is really a big Teddy Bear, even though he tries to be gruff.

Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself after signing up half-an-hour ago.
Thank you for having me incidentally.
A quick glance through the site shows an international composition which I like the idea of.

I chose the user name Sylvia's Father because my younger grandaughter is called Sylvia, but it's also a play on Sylvia's Mother, an irreverant song by Dr Hook and a hit in 1972. I met my wife when this was top of the charts and her mother didn't take to me in the early days. I wore my hair long and was at university studying economics, politics & philosophy; the dear lady thought it was a bit odd for a proletarian youth ("these places ar not for the likes of US!") and was keen for me to join my future father-in-law in a giant steel works, where he drove a crane.

I've been lecturing in philosophy for almost 20 years now. I live just outside Glasgow and have been married to Sylvia's granny for 30 years, we have 3 daughters (2 teachers, 1 in her final year training as a dentist) and 4 grandchildren. I'll wait until I'm more familiar with the site and characters before taking part. I'm looking forward to it.

That's a good intro, nice to see you. If you've been lecturing in philsophy around Glasgow for 20 years, you've probably taught a few of my pals.

Here's the song for anyone who might not know it...
