Pirty, I am surprised you fall for the propaganda like that. Obama isn't a socialist, anymore then Bush wanted to be a dictator. Does he want more social services and to give a bit more back, yes, but democrats generally want that more than republicans. To call Obama a socialist is laughable. Especially if you actually take a close look at his plans. Obama isn't going to drag America towards socialism and if McCain is elected he won't drag America toward the polar opposite either.

And all you have to do to look that he isn't a socialist is to actually look at his record in Illinois. It didn't become a "socialist" state nor did he do all those changes there like that.

Living with full blown socialism...yes. It affects just us.

foreign policy is another story, but it doesn't get any better there either. It'll make this country more vulnerable than it ever has before. I shiver at the thought. thumbsdown

America (and the 'civilised West' in general) is not really vulnerable to anything but greed (for money and power). If they sorted that out then nobody would care, and nobody would attack it or even want to.

I personally think (and hope) that Obama is going to win. For a fairly unbiased look at the polls and what they are saying, take a look at this site --

http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/

It is pretty clear cut and self explanatory. Click on the "Today's Polls" and take a look. I don't think it is as close as some folks would think....

I am with you, Face....not counting my votes until they are cast so to speak, but I have my fingers (and anything else I have) crossed that the voting public does the right thing.

pirty, why not post up some articles that show why you see obama as socialist? i'd be interested in reading them Smile

have you not wondered pirty, if obama is going to take america towards 'full blown socialism', why none of us in the galloway section have been going on about how great obama is going to be? i mean, i think the best we've come up with is hes the lesser of two evils - i've said that theres no real difference between him and mccain, and that obama is just going to put a nicer face on the same type of policies. don't you think we'd be a bit more full of praise for him if he was going to lead america to socialism?! what is it that fox news and you know that we don't?

if he's socialist, how come all the socialist web sites are full of articles cussing his policies and warning of an obama presidency? ( not that they're any fan of mccain! ) if he's socialist, how has he managed to convince huge corporations to back him, including energy companies? i mean in full blown socialism, isn't he going to nationalise those energy companies?! why would corporate america be backing a socialist? how come the capitalist media hasn't revealed his socialist leanings? if we've learnt one thing from chavez in venezuela, its that the capitalist media doesn't like anything remotely socialist! how has he managed to fool the majority of the american media?

hope you like me new avatar, its just for you wink Laughing

HIS sweets? lol He takes mine and other's sweets and gives it to people too lazy to work for their own sweets. That's the short and bittersweet version.

Happy voting everyone who is able to vote tomorrow! Here's to keeping a socialist/marxist/racist/appeaser out of the white house. I'm crossing my fingers. Good luck! Laughing

I just posted in the other thread that it's a pretty amazing experience witnessing history as it is happening. McCain just finished his concession speech and Obama will be making his acceptance any moment now.
