Good reply Kate .. but the boundaries start to blur when the mainstream media own major free sites (e.g. MySpace), and it is rumoured Facebook is CIA linked.
These big sites them become a sort of "gatekeeper" for the government line .. and especially because they are free (due to long term funding which may be from private investors or the stock exchange), it undermines the ability of others to compete.

OK, now you've gone madder.
By whom is it rumoured that Facebook is linked to the CIA??? Is it by the same people who wear tinfoil hats to stop the aliens stealing their thoughts? Is it by the same people who use the term "gatekeeper" to describe anyone who leans left, but doesn't lean so far that they fall over and join them on the floor??
You and Ickey-Wikey would get on like an arse on fire...

It is amazing how easy it is to be called "madder" for a comment just mentioning there was a rumour out there. That is like calling a reporter mad for reporting some people believe in conspiracy theories. I deliberately didn't say it was a proven fact. [I will ignore the implicit insult in your statement that I was already mad]
Anyway, you asked for it :
p.s. Kate, keep believing the are no big conspiracies out there and don't read this

BTW, Alex Jones has almost trademarked "katekeeper", "shill" etc., not Icke. Regarding Icke, his views chime with Russell Brand, so you might as well take Russell off your christmas card list.
as for people putting all that info on a site - they're idiots. Even the BBC warns against that, so extrapolating your rumour, the BBC are going against the CIA?

The BBC isn't all bad .. and there are lots of good people at the BBC. Indeed, it is sometimes left wing. However, when the government pulls the strings, they convert the BBC into a puppet. The government isn't going to do this on every matter, but on the ones it wants to "spin".

I thought it was explicit

I never said there were no big conspiracies, I'm just saying that the sorts of things you're sucked into researching are just unfeasible. These "gatekeepers", for instance. I've seen numerous examples of people on forums such as David Icke's calling George Galloway a gatekeeper just because he doesn't go along with their claims that Dick Cheney is a lizard and the Bush Administration flew planes into the World Trade Center. I would even be called a gatekeeper by these morons, except I'm not a public commentator so they'd probably demote me to "useful idiot".
That Facebook video strikes me as exactly the same sort of thing. "Fred Smith's uncle's dog's vet's wife's best friend once rode a bicylce past the White House! OMG, we're all gonna die!" Doesn't it occur to you that people who are CEOs of multi-million dollar companies in the USA are pretty much bound to be connected to each other in some way? That's how elitist Capitalism works in America. There is only a conspiracy in so far as they all want to make more money, and have realised that by cooperating with each other they can acheive that.
I wonder why YouTube haven't deleted that Facebook video, assuming that they're part of this sinister plot.

That's just silly. That's like saying you should take George off your Christmas list because he'd probably also tell you you've gone madder if you had a conversation with him about some of the stuff you spout.
Not to mention that Russell Brand's views do not chime with David Icke's. He has a lot of time for Icke but he doesn't believe it all deep down - it's convenient for an off-the-wall comedian to have mental friends - makes for good radio.
So you agree with me that Facebook is somewhat connected to the CIA and there is a conspiracy [granted to make money, but still a conspiracy]... what does that make you?
I wonder if it is just the word "Gatekeeper" which got you riled..
p.s. The video is a lot stronger than x's dog rode near the Whitehouse .. a director is a controlling person .. and where they sit [and sat] & who they are is a VERY important indicator of their links to the establishment.

You can link any big business enterprise to the CIA if you try hard enough. What I'm saying is that the links are trivial. I don't waste my time agonising over which corporate fat-cat lunches with which Federal operative, and which similar organisations he's worked with in the past as he climbed the greasy pole.
I have seen the MySpace and Facebook terms of service and user agreements, and they are extreme, and they do amount to signing your artistic rights away, but I'm just saying that it's not a big government conspiracy. There doesn't need to be a conspiracy - Capitalists don't need to be taught how to stay powerful and ruthless, that's why they're Capitalists.
The way you're spinning the facts is almost as though you think there was a big secret meeting where a group of shady people in a smoky room decided to infiltrate the world by setting up a spy network in the guise of a social networking website. And they probably threw their heads back and laughed loudly while stroking long-haired white cats, too.

Not to mention they would have been brilliant to use Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, the 23 year old Harvard student as the patsy to create it. I am sure he is just a cover. It really didn't start from his dorm room. Maybe he's one of the white cats in a human suit.
That explains why well-known gatekeeper, George Galloway, wore that cat-suit on Big Brother. It was really a cryptic message and a wink to his Zionist, Capitalist, CIA paymasters! The plot thickens! Where's my tin-foil hijab?!
