Cho was on antidepressants yes but I believe he was off of them at the time.

This really hasn't been getting much coverage.

I just find it interesting because when Cho attacked, Columbine, and others, it was all over the news and everyone was talking about it. Now there isn't much at all. There was loads to say with the other guys, but not with Pekka? Why's that. It's odd.

Interesting video for sure Face. This guy was obviously pretty clued in to what was going on with this fella.
I don't know if I would have a drink or with this guy myself, as he seems a bit odd (and reminds me of a guy I knew who drove me batty). But he does seem to understand that there are these risks and people don't listen all the time.
This is one reason I think all threats need to be taken seriously, even if they are in passing. Since there is no profile at all for these offenders you cannot gauge who will really attack.
They don't need to be arrested or anything that extreme but they need to be talked to and if necessary watched. They need help.
Not during him into a monster or hero was such a true statement by this guy. Not sure about the last bit totally, but I get what he was saying

Is this the shooter? Grabs from one of at least four YouTube videos show a man firing a gun at a firing range. The location is said to be Kauhajoki and the videos were posted between three weeks and five days ago
At least nine dead after student 'armed with explosives' opens fire at school in Finland
23rd September 2008

At least nine people have been killed this morning after a male gunman opened fire at a school in Finland. The student, wearing a black hood and armed with an automatic weapon, is said to have started shooting at a college for adults in the town of Kauhajoki just before 11am (8am GMT) today.

A fire had broken out at the school but has now been extinguished. Finnish news agency STT said that the gunman possibly had explosives on him. Police have claimed the gunman is wounded but still alive. A spokesperson said he shot himself.

In a chilling echo of last year's Jokela high school massacre that shocked Finland, the shooter is said to have posted a video warning of his rampage on YouTube. Superintendent Jussi Muotio of the Kauhajoki police said the incident is over and police did not know if anyone had been killed. He declined to give more details. Reports suggested the shooter was known to police.

The school, which calls itself the "Kauhajoki School of Hospitality", had 150 students and 40 teachers as of 2005, according to the official website. It teaches catering, tourism studies and home economics. A Finnish journalist told Sky news that the student began shooting as exams started in the school.

Finnish media said the YouTube clips show a young man wearing a leather jacket firing several shots in rapid succession with a handgun at what appears to be a shooting range. The videos show the same man practising at the range over several different days. They have since been removed from YouTube amid speculation he may be the shooter

A search of YouTube yielded four videos filmed by a user who calls himself Mr. Saari, who said he was 22 years old and lived in Kauhajoki. The YouTube user's profile included the words: "And suddenly there was war and the mothers they screamed. For revenge and reprisals for another war." Another quote read: "Whole life is war and whole life is pain. And you will fight alone in your personal war."

The postings were made from three weeks to five days before the shooting. Clips from the 1999 Columbine school shootings in Colorado were listed among the poster's favorite videos. The clips have since been removed.

A BBC correspondent said the shooter had been dressed in black and carrying an automatic weapon. There were reports of at least one girl leaving the school covered in blood. More than 200 have been evacuated from the school. Five police squads were said to be on the scene.

Jukka Forsberg, a maintenance worker at the college, told Finnish television station YLE that several people have suffered injuries. The worker said a man with a ski mask went into the building with a large bag. Soon after, he heard shots fired.

Kauhajoki is in western Finland, over 200 miles from Helsinki.

Mum buys guns for school attack
By PAUL THOMPSON

A MUM faced jail yesterday after buying GUNS for her teenage son as he planned a school massacre. Michelle Cossey, 47, bought bullied Dillon, 14, an assault rifle fitted with a sniper’s scope. She also purchased a 9mm handgun, a .22 rifle and gunpowder to make grenades.

Dillon, who left school at 12 after being bullied over his weight, planned to use them in a massacre in Plymouth Township, Pennsylvania. He was caught when a schoolfriend he wanted to help with the attack told cops.

Dillon was sentenced to seven years in a juvenile detention centre earlier this year. It is unclear if Mrs Cossey knew what he planned. But prosecutors said she had created a “me-and-mum-against-the-world” attitude in her only child.

Dillon had also been in touch with a Finnish teenager who carried out a massacre at his school last November. Pekka-Eric Auvinen, 18, shot dead six pupils, a nurse and the head teacher before killing himself. Mrs Cossey pleaded guilty on Tuesday to child endangerment. Her sentencing has been delayed for psychiatric reports.

Who allows their kid to leave school because he is being bullied about his weight?? Good God, I wish I had thought of that! Of course, my parents would have laughed at me and put me right back on the school bus...What is wrong with some parents today?

yeah, I was fairly overweight at school too - but I didn't get bullied for it once the PE teacher put me up front in a rugby scrum... all it took was for a local ned to be relatively crushed and the problem was solved... haha

Pity that kid didn't have a teacher like that.

Some pictures of the scene of the more recent shooting in Finland. Perhaps coincidentally it turns out that both killers bought their gun from the same shop.
