| Lucky I have not seen any of the flooding here first hand and have had a pretty dry visit. However, my step-brother-in-law lives in Hull and has been hit pretty hard. I am glad for his sake that his home was not damaged. |

It's the skew, not the info. |

Nice find Mandy.
Again I'd like to point out that I am not in denial that man is an utter bastard to this planet.
But I am also aware of our planets history, the way in which we have recorded over the past 250 years alone (pretty much as far back as when we started to collect data on weather trends) that things can & will get worse before they get better & level out...
The only problem being that we have no real idea how long it will take.
We can draw on facts found through varied core samples taken all over the planet, from deep within our lands, deserts & ice fields (a dif' type of desert I know).
When looking at these core samples we see GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGES that occur all over the planet at the same time, as I said above in another post, both heating & cooling, extreme heat & freezing...
It's natural, not man made, unless of course those pesky Atlantians had such huge reactors going & massive engines spewing pollutants.
(But even throwing Atlantians into the mix could only account for a portion, a small portion of changes seen / found in core samples)
Until politico's & the odd company got into 'save the earth' as a means to promote themselves, mankind accepted that we knew very little about our planet, more so about the climate changes, but we had a decent idea that due to our ever changing unique orbit & the ever changing unique orbits of other planets in our solar system; that we as man could not predict exactingly where nor when things would / could heat up or cool down again.
This planet is ever changing from within also, we see this phenom as earthquakes, volcanos erupting, large exulsions of gases from the oceans floor...
These natural occurances change both the face of our planet & our atmosphere adding to the warming & cooling of the surface... sometimes causing problems on the other side of the planet.
Case in point was the year without summer in our megre records, a year where volcanic ashes in our atmosphere pretty much blocked out the suns rays globaly, causing a "chill" all over & several years for the planets surface to recover.
Again, I am not saying that man does not have a hand in our planets demise, but compared to nature itself as seen by collected data from samples & on record, we the human race are mere amatures...
Man Vs Nature on earth alone often results in man having a hard time, often nature prevails & man dies...
Throw nature of the cosmos or just our lil section of it into the mix... Hmmmmm
I hope some people will see my point. |

| A reminder that however hard Britain is affected, other places are far more affected by floods : |

6ul, it seems you're determined to find stuff that proves that man has no influence on the planet - why is that? Are you really of the belief that 6 billion humans aren't affecting the state of the planet? Does that even make sense to you?
I've got proof that people affect climate change if you want it. |

Not so...
As I have said above & in other places: I agree that we as humans don't help matters when it comes to the demise of our planet.
But I also believe in facts such as I have stated above in this thread, such as that this planet heats up & cools down, there just isn't a cycle that is mapable such as we see summer or winter.
I am also of the school that quite a few who could profit by ignoring basic facts & crying that "It is all mankinds fault" have a lot to gain by saying so.
Again, mankind has blame, but you can't ignore nature, the universe we have a small part in.... |

Some people will find a way to profit from anything - but that doesn't mean we should stop handing out fresh water to those affected by these floods if it was revealed that some people were selling it.
The problem is clear and obvious - greed based on consumerism which is being promoted by governments as the 'right way'. If people took what they needed and not what they wanted there wouldn't be a problem with this. At all. |
