I agree with faceless on this one. The prat was probably put off of his filet mignon. His whole point was that he'd paid 3000 quid for his seat.

Granted, it's awkward. But have some compassion. If it was him or his traveling companion who died, would he expect the body to be stuffed in overhead storage? (My apologies -- that's a fairly tasteless remark.)

I know that crew have a cabin (of sorts) on large planes for long-haul flights so they can bunk down during a crew rotation. I doubt they would've used this space. And since space is a premium, I'd be amazed if the airline decided to set aside extra room considering how rarely this occurs. There's a reason "economy" is often referred to as "cattle class." They pack us in like sardines.

No, I'd be shocked. But what could anyone do about it? What did he expect the crew (or airline, after the fact) to do? And the point is it's not a regular occurrence -- only a handful of times in (was it?) 39 million passengers.

I sure do believe this quote is right on 100%, but as far as the part where "all rich folks are morally bankrupt" I can't agree with. It's too wide a paint brush. This particular guy is classless. Maybe he'll have learned from his mistake after his peers show him that he's a total prat for his comments and actions.

I pretty much figured that was the reason. The thing I don't quite get is if this was a person of no wealth at all this thread would have gone in an entirely different direction, but because the man was successful it seems his right to feel distressed and speak out about it are being stomped on.

I feel basic human rights are just that, and that counts whether the human has money or not.

The only wealthy people I've any amount of respect for are those that don't have the insecurity and lack of class it takes to show it off. I also measure success in a person by how they treat others - so this guy is not successful in my eyes. He's a whining prick who put his discomfort ahead of the grief of the family. He should have just shut up, then counted his blessings rather than his spare change.

Right well I won't continue to bicker about it, but lastly I'll say I don't see him as a whining prick because he was distressed. It's a normal human reaction whether you're of means or not.
