Mad The reason I posted this, is my outrage at the hypocrisy by spielberg.
He wants to withdraw his artistic advice due to Darfur conflict where An estimated 200,000 people have died. What about the 1000000 Iraqi deaths. This is the same guy who supported Bush on Iraq war by the way.

Maybe some artists better stick to art and not interfere with politics at all. We don't need them.
If he really cares, then make a film about atrocities in iraq.

does he still feel the war was justified though? so many americans and british were completely taken in by the lies and propaganda - iraq and its invisible wmd, iraq and its invisible links to 9/11, iraq and its invisible links to al qaeda ( the last two more america than britain ) - lots of people were conned, not everyone pays that much attention to events outside of the limited spectrum of mainstream media coverage ( although if he doesn't - he should really shut up on issues he doesn't know anything about ). it would be interesting to know what he thinks now -i mean, if he can describe darfur as 'At this point, my time and energy must be spent not on Olympic ceremonies, but on doing all I can to help bring an end to the unspeakable crimes against humanity that continue to be committed in Darfur.' - i wonder if hes spending any time on the far bigger crimes taking place in iraq ...

if he still feels it was justified knowing what we now know ... he should put down his movie camera and pick up a gun and get out to iraq

Yes that's true but what are they doing now to rectify that mistake?
I mean It doesn't really matter any more if he still does or doesn't support the war in Iraq. It's the timing I am concerned about. This was politically motivated.
He talks about "unspeakable crimes against humanity ", but falls short of mentioning the Iraq war.Back in 2002 he and Tom Cruise joined the list of celebrities making their views known on Iraq, speaking out in favour of President George Bush's stance. After such a debacle, the least he can do now is to voice his indignation of both atrocities if his intentions are entirely humanitarian.
